Nurturing Play and Beyond: Middle Years Child Care Fundamentals Principles and Practices

In partnership with The Summers’ Life Creative and funded by the Government of Canada and Province of British Columbia, Nurturing Play and Beyond: Middle Years Child Care Fundamentals, Principles & Practices was created to address the gap in accessible, high-quality, holistic training for early childhood educators, early childhood educator assistants and school-age educators working with school-aged children.

This course equips early childhood educators, education assistants and school-aged educators with practical tools to elevate their practice. The course also fosters a culture of lifelong learning, child care advocacy and the advancement of care for children and families throughout B.C.

The course is offered over a four-week period, with six hours of self-led course material per week and a two-hour facilitated session at the end of each week. Participants will receive a certificate for a total of 27 professional development hours.

With support from the BC Early Years Professional Development Bursary, the course is now available for $55, compared to the original price of $270.

The following cohorts are now available for enrolment:

  • Cohort 7: June 7 – June 28, 2025
  • Cohort 8: August 9 – August 30, 2025
