Health & Safety Virtual Townhall & Update to Guidelines Coming Soon

Please see the following message from MCFD on an upcoming Health & Safety Virtual Townhall & Update to Guidelines on Tuesday February 16th, 2021 at 7:00 p.m.

Dear Child Care Providers and Partners,

The COVID-19 pandemic has been challenging for everyone. It has emphasized for many that child care is a vital service that supports the wellbeing of B.C. families and communities. We are grateful for the incredible work and dedication of our early learning and child care professionals, like yourselves.

The BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC) and the Ministry of Health have updated the COVID-19 Public Health Guidance for K-12 Settings and will be doing the same with the Child Care Settings in the coming week. The updated child care guidelines will provide child care operators with information to help prevent the transmission of COVID-19 and to maintain safe and healthy environments for children and staff during the pandemic. We will notify you by email when these guidelines for child care settings are released.

As a result of these guidelines being updated shortly, we know the child care sector will have questions related to the health and safety of children and staff. To address these questions, we invite you to attend a virtual conference on Tuesday, February 16th beginning at 7:00pm with Dr. McKee, Medical Director, Population and Public Health at the BCCDC and Jacqueline Holmes, Manager, Prevention Field Services at WorkSafe BC.

In addition to your own attendance, we encourage you to extend this invitation to all the Early Learning and Child Care Professionals that work in your facilities. We welcome the questions and attendance of all child care providers!

Submit Questions in Advance

To help ensure that we can answer as many questions as possible, we ask that you send your questions in advance by submitting them through our online survey. We will be accepting questions until midnight on Monday, February 15, 2021. If there is time, we will still offer the opportunity to ask questions live on the call, but we hope that submitting questions in advance will help streamline the process and ensure the most frequent and pressing questions are answered.
